First off I would like to thank Brian here for his guest article, as it certainly is the process to go through. I would recommend checking out his site for more material. Also, if anyone else sees this and wants to guest post, feel free to let me know.

Matt: That is true about negative patterns. We see something we do that limits us daily, but then continue to do it again. It makes us look for something to cause us to snap out of it. The other way would be to find a beneficial use for something we do that isn't current beneficial, which I wrote about in one article long ago about channeling one addiction into another one.

Being patient is tough, but I can also see that we need not be patient at any time, as there is always a next step that is ready. Time passage doesn't usually bring much that we didn't already work toward.

I appreciate your comment and humble demeanor.

Nicely said. It really is hard to break ourselves of negative patterns. We all have ingrained habits that we would love to lose, they can be so much a part of our day that it seems like we have to change who we are to get away from them. The last point be patient is one I have a hard time with, when I don't see immediate progress I become discouraged, keeping reminders around is a great idea, I think your advise is really going to help me along my long self development road.
