A Hello Video With A Booming Introduction

by Armen · 22 comments

The following is the first video I have posted on here, other than the running video I posted a month or two ago showing me running through a trail path.  I started it off like Gary Vaynerchuk of Wine Library TV, author of the book Crush It(affiliate link), starts off his Wine Library videos, because I got the idea to convert the name “Wine Library TV” to what you will hear near the end of the video.  After a few tries, I got the hang of not watching myself in the video on the screen, and instead look at the camera light at the top of the laptop.

Also, I am going to a Toastmasters meeting sometime this following week so I get into doing more like I do in this video.  I like talking to audiences, so that will be a good way to do what I enjoy, and also meet some other cool people.  Thanks goes out to Timothy Enalls from Inspiration Central for some solid information about Toastmasters.  I also had read some material about it in past months from Scott H Young and Steve Pavlina, as well as many others.

Let me know if there is something you’d like me to talk about in speech form in a future video, or if you have an idea that comes to mind.  I am glad to hear ideas.

Wow, congrats on doing this and I’m sure you’ll get better and better. Now, I already did some video exercising before, but you sold me out with this one. I’m going to do a video post pretty soon. Which means your first video was already really inspirational :-)

All the best :-)

Cool video man. Made me laugh and wonder if you were on something. Lol!

Haha I agree with Gordie. This was funny. Nice video and thanks for that inspiration Armen.

Dragos: Hey there. Thanks for that. I appreciate the positive message as the only other feedback I had before that was my own interpretation of how it went. I only learn when I do things. Thanks for that message, and I look to see your video post. Maybe we can battle in some way through videos. It is good to hear about it being inspirational too.

Gordie: Thanks man. I’m just trying to inspire, entertain, educate, motivate, empower, enliven, inform, and related material. Good to hear from you.

Tristan: Thank you there. I am glad to have done it and like the feedback too. I have to do more.

I think the weather channel said it will rain all week at the home location of anyone who comments on this article and doesn’t post a video on their own site. It’s not confirmed but could be the case.

You done it Armen. Now I’m going to have to make a video soon too. Actually I already planned to start next month. But I admire your courage to do it without any plan. That my friend is awesome.

I like the video too, what I have found with other videos is that “a talking head” usually makes me click the stop button very quickly, but you solved that problem with plenty of energy and movement.

Wow, lots of visual excitement in this video! Jeanette mentioned the “talking head” thing, where the person stays perfectly still and it gets boring fast. That’s why news anchors make so many awkward head movements, though I’m not sure which is worse. You found a better solution!

Nik: Hey there. Thanks sir. I was thinking that too about having done it. I also look forward to seeing yours. Thanks for that about the courage. I think I do my best when I don’t really have a plan. My plans tend to cancel out what I am going to do in the plan. Thanks for the support big guy.

Jeanette: Hey thanks for that. I understand what you are saying about a “talking head” quality. I like to use arm gestures and moves and material like that. I do it all the time when I’m talking to people. Thanks with how you say I solved that issue with the energy and movement, because I would be in trouble if that energy and movement wasn’t a part of the solution.

Hunter: Hey to you. I am all about visual excitement. On a side note, I also learn and memorize best kinesthetically, or at least with some form of high-energy or action. That’s hilarious in your point about news anchors. Some of those 30-second news updates contain more awkward head movements than I make use of in a day. I’m glad I got a blend of that and the “talking head” feature that works out well. Thanks for the supporting message.

Armen, honest, funny, mad! (Nice mad). Good job, your personality shines through. One suggestion if you want the visual to have more ‘zing’ and be a tad sharper is to use some more lighting, professional or improvised.

Putting a video of you out there takes some guts. So, congatz!

You seem really passionate in the way you talk. I think you’re moving a bit too much (left to right, front to back) but this is a speaking thing that can easily be improved with practice.

Hey Armen! This was TOTALLY fun to watch! Usually introductory videos bore me, but your improvisation, your energy and spontaneity, made me stay tuned, listen, and smile the whole time. And you’re message was a good one, “just start”… your fearlessness was inspiring and I think anyone holding back from putting themselves out there and trying something new would definitely feel encouraged watching you.

MindLibrary TV… has a nice ring!

Congrats on doing this. I loved it! :)

This. Was. Awesome. Totally inspiring, and since I’ve been toying with the idea of podcasting for awhile (to improve speaking skills and so on), so this week I’m gonna dive in and do it.

Coach Rosie: Hey to you. Thanks for that support. I am glad that my personality was expressed there, as I didn’t seek to limit it for the most part. I hear your point on the lighting, and may improve upon that in some way, like by adding lighting.

Eduard: Hello there. Thanks for that about the guts. I think I am as passionate as I come across in the video, which is good as far as congruency. I will keep the note about moving in mind for the next video. Glad for your input.

Miche: Thank you very much. I did it just for you, along with others as well. That message of “just start” is one I have used many times for my own efforts. 5 minutes after that, I’m rolling along and realize that all I needed was the jumpstart. You could say “just start” provides a jumpstart. Thanks about the name. I will bring it up to Gary when I see him on Thursday and check what he thinks about the name. I had to present it because it fits in well.

Brett: Thank you. This is cool to hear about it inspiring, and I look to see your podcast soon. Diving in sounds like a good idea. Here is a link to the one podcast I did before:

Hi Armen! I’ve seen you a lot in the Problogger forum and on Copyblogger. Your video rocked! You were entertaining, informative and you’ve got a great face (look out Hollywood!!!) Best of luck and who knows maybe I will grow a set of “you know what’s” and decide to post a video one of these days. Thanks for the inspiration

Hey Roschelle. I have also seen you in that forum, and it is cool to see you here. Thanks for that message. I will keep that in mind about my face, because I don’t think I have heard that before, so now if anyone asks, I will say I have heard it before. I sure do hope you grow a set of tangerines and post a video. If you don’t, then it is indirectly telling me I have failed to inspire you. I would then have to go back to the drawing board.

Good to hear from you.

Good luck with toastmasters. I always wanted to try them but here in Italy they’re only available in one city.

Armen October 20, 2009 at 9:40 pm

Oscar: Thanks for that. I will report back about it in a later article after I have taken part. It sure is surprising that they are only in one city in Italy, since I saw that they have around 11-12 thousand meeting places, but it makes sense because most are in the US.

Thanks for your input.

lol this is the first time I read something on your site and I already know what you act like in a video – now that’s a rare thing for a blog!

anyways nice video, your humor and dedication in this video makes me curious to read more lol.

Nice movements by the way, its funny in a way (no offense), maybe you are trying to be more dynamic and expressive with your body to bring energy into the video. You could check out some Tony Robbins seminars and see how he talks up stage with all that hyped up energy lol, maybe it’ll teach you something new. :)

I appreciate this post with your courage and expressiveness.

Good stuff, not a bad start. If you need help on stuff let me know. Be yourself, don’t compare it GV’s show. Make your own.

Steven: That is pretty cool. I would find it interesting if the first article I ever read on a site of ~170 articles was the first posted video too. Thanks about the video. I enjoyed it and must do more, throwing any caution or hesitation away.

I hear you about the movements. I sure do move around a lot, and might end up more stationary in the next video. I have seen big guy Tony Robbins and he is pretty fun to watch. Good point though about learning from the videos of other speakers. Thanks for your support.

Dilan: Thank you there. I will keep that in mind for future videos, and I think you are right about sticking to my own material. Glad for the insight.

Thanks for the mention, Armen. I just found out about this post by complete chance as I was searching my name in Google.

Good luck with your venture in Toastmasters. You’re definitely more entertaining and animated than most presenters I’ve listened to.

Hey Tim.

Sure thing about that. Your post or comments from before got me to go to a Toastmaster’s meeting like I had wanted to. It was a worth-it experience.

Thanks about my entertaining and animation, and I must continue to do videos for this reason, among others.
