Arnold Schwarzenegger once spoke to a group of younger individuals on the show “The Apprentice”, and he pointed out some vital information to them. He mentioned that he became successful in the movie field because he ignored the people that said he couldn’t become a famous actor due to his accent or background. As a person becomes more successful, other people around him end up saying to themselves, “why him and not me?”, and almost all individuals will respond in a jealous fashion to bring the person down. Arnold also said that a person can reach their goal if they are hungry. Another point that Arnold made was that the pain or trouble that a person goes through to succeed is temporary while the success that results from it is permanent. He said that the pain he went through to make a scene for a movie was temporary, but that the film was permanent. This boils down to the idea that it is worth it to struggle heavily now for an improved result that will continue to give back to the individual that caused it to be created.
The two most important aspects of one’s life are his time and health. Any billionaire or supermodel would give up everything to be younger or have improved functioning health. Time is an equalizing factor as all organisms are provided the amount of time to work with in a specific period(such as a day). Based off of this knowledge, one can prioritize activities to perform based on how they make use of time or affect their health in the long term. Working in a dangerous place for a small amount of profit is not wise as the profit is negligible when one becomes severely injured. People do have a good sense of time in the short term but only the minority can understand how to use time for the long term. Some things that seem to be good uses of time in the short term, like cleaning a room, are terrible uses of time when one thinks that their time could be better spent on a larger goal which would then lead to being able to hire someone to clean their room. When one thinks that there are about 25000 days in 70 years of life, their mindset changes, if only temporarily. It is beneficial to think that a hefty obstacle can be conquered in one day, and each individual has numerous days.
When an idea jumps into one’s mind, the first step of attack should be to get it written down or communicated to others. Fanciful ideas are just as, if not more, relevant than seemingly ordinary(yet new) ideas. If an idea is presented to another and shot down by that person, it would be useful to keep in mind that either that person is not the correct audience or the idea needs to be revised for public presentation. Forgetting(or not presenting) an idea leaves one less theoretical option on the table of possibilities.
Although most would consider an addiction a negative, the great thing about an addiction is that it can be channeled into a more desired addiction with a small amount of mental alteration. Someone who is stuck on watching TV for 30 minutes every day at 10:00 AM can quite readily turn that into 30 minutes of exercise time every day by making a conscious decision to switch activities. This works quite well and so one might desire to look at their addictions and perform this channeling process on them. It is a way of using our built-in routine more to our advantage.
