Being a good or nice person in public society is like swimming against the current of a torrential river, so some definite adjustments have to be made if you want to maintain that type of reputation. It takes convictions that you will uphold at all times, as well as force behind all of your actions that counters the external forces against your goodness. Here I discuss how your average level of forcefulness(from strong to weak) and demeanor/foundation(from good to bad/ruthless) places you in one of four categories:
Ranking System
1. strong and good – most successful
2. strong and bad
3. weak and good
4. weak and bad – least successful
Why Rank 3 Is More Successful Than Rank 4
Let me explain this ranking set and how the factors that contribute to the ranking work. A person who operates in a weak fashion, similarly to another individual who is weak in their decision-making and backing up, will have an advantage if he is more oriented towards maintaining a good reputation, as he will have motivation coming from the fact that he is defending something worth defending. On the other hand, the individual in that example that is on the ruthless end of the spectrum has no basis to fall back on, and will often get frustrated and weakened for longer periods. This is how ranks three and four are set in order.
The Basis Behind Rank 2 vs. 3
The next point is to explain why ranks two and three are laid out as they are. It is seen that a bad or ruthless individual who is strong in their decision-making is placed above an individual grounded in goodness that is weak in their actions and thoughts on this ranking of success. This is because a strong person in the wrong will defend their message and actions far more than a weak and correct individual, and the weak individual will come to the point where they give up, leaving the gains for the stronger individual to take. I will come back to this point.
What Puts Rank 1 Above Rank 2?
Finally, you will show up at rank one on this list of ability to maintain success if you maintain a reputation of goodness with force, as you then can fend off ruthless individuals who try to malign you or your image, and also have a foundation to fall back on that they would not have, leaving them weakened during times of conflict.
Defend Your Goodness Forcefully Or Rank 1 Is Unattainable
Going back to the point about how a strong and ruthless individual is more likely to obtain success than a weak and reputable person, the idea to take from that is that it isn’t enough to have a mindset of positive maintenance of reputation or propriety, but that you have to support that with vigor, strength and energy. Your level of forcefulness should match the truth or goodness of the thought or action, so that you have its intrinsic value to fall back on. The people that stay on the good end of the personality spectrum, and match that with appropriate strength, won’t get overpowered, and will end up ahead of all other types of individuals.
