Sites To Mention 12-02-2008

website

There are a few sites that I would like to point out at this time, due to redeeming qualities that they possess. The writers/handlers of these sites regularly put out useful material in their categories of interest. The content and design of these sites are the main features that draw viewers back to read and see more. It is a good idea to keep in mind that the individuals behind sites such as these took a space that was once empty, and have built it into the creations that you are now able to see.

Blog For Beginners

Blog For Beginners, run by Yan Susanto, is one site that sets itself apart through its design, with artistry on the sides that partially blurs the border between articles and backdrop. The site is geared towards providing information to blog-maintainers, which are a large group, about topics including elements of WordPress, SEO improvement, and writing tips. The discussion that occurs in the comments of articles posted is quite inclusive. Site-handlers could benefit from communicating with Yan in the response section.

Learn This

Learn This, run by Mike King, is a site that has a theme that flows well from top to bottom, with a header section that is visually appealing. Some of the main topics discussed on the site are life, relationships, and business. The concepts brought up in articles are thoroughly explained, as is quite noticeable in a series he recently completed, which was called Maximum Productivity. The site also contains an abundance of book reviews of books that are mostly about the subjects that Mike writes about. One would do well to check up on his review of a possible future book of interest, in order to see if it would be worth the reading time.

Diligent Design

Diligent Design, run by Corey Freeman, has a color scheme, layout, and usage of typography that makes reading on it a breeze. Important lines and phrases in articles are made more visible, and images, lists, or other items appear to be effortlessly placed in optimum locations. The site is focused on topics such as design, productivity, and experiments that are conducted by Corey. She has had a marketing experiment going on for multiple weeks, with details as to the results of the various blog marketing methods, and insight into what worked better or worse.

Timeless Lessons

Timeless Lessons, run by Valeria, is a somewhat newer site, although it shows no signs of it, that makes great use of the theme it is set on, as the articles are placed in the differently-sized columns with a distinct look to each column. The site also fits the theme well, as it has multiple categories of articles that are presented near the top of the viewable region. These include articles about happiness, health, motivation, and productivity. The amount of information in each article, along with well-placed quotes along the way, serves to ease the reader into understanding concepts that are brought up.

Thanks Armen for the compliment and mention for my site. All three of those others are new to me so I will definitely be looking at them more closely tonight, as I know if you recommend them they will have good content!

Thanks a lot about mentioning the flow of the header and theme on my site. I’ve never really asked anyone about it, so was kinda wondering. I’ll count your opinion as the only one that matters now and keep it! I really like how you included the screen shots in this and outlined each post. Great details, it’s much appreciated over a few blog links!

Hey Armen

Thanks for the shout. You are right about it, “…partially blurs the border between articles and backdrop... You know what? I’ve been contemplating about making design change to Thesis but apparently, most of my readers are against it. Well, what can I say?

Anyway, I’ve seen you a lot across the blogs that I visit but if my memory serves me well, you’ve never left a comment on mine. haven’t you? In any case, thanks again for the mention.

Mike: It is good to hear that you will be, or already are, taking a look at the other presented sites. On the note about the flow, it does appear to be there. There sure were a few things I was wanting to point out.

MoneyEnergy: I’m glad for that, and for the material on your site. I sure have been around Steve Pavlina’s site, and am thankful for your support of future material.

Yan: Hello to you. You would have to present a reasonably strong alternative/case if you wanted to switch from the theme and layout that you have now. About the other point, I sure have seen you in numerous sites, and have read through many of the articles and comment discussions on your site. I have made use of some of the SEO material that you have provided, and I think that I have used some other tips of yours as well. You bring up a valid point in that I don’t recall commenting on your site as of yet.

@Armen:

You know what? If there is one reason why I notice your comments on other blogs is simply for your style of commenting. To be very frank, you have a unique and superb writing skills. Your choice of words on each of your comment really caught my attention. You don’t comment for the sake of commenting and that certainly deserve my respect.

You would have to present a reasonably strong alternative/case….

Hmmm, I’m still unsure on the change yet. Perhaps when I do complete my other priorities, I’ll seriously think about it. As for now, it’s a case of “too many things, too little time”…

Talk to you again, Armen. Nice knowing you.

Cheers
Yan

It is very nice that you take some time out to answer your comments, it is very important to do so. Also, is nice that you give recognition to other sites that you deem to be important and suggest to your readers.

Thanks for the linkage! Typography is one of my favorite aspects of design so I’m glad it’s working! You really did compile a nice list of websites here.

Yan: Thank you for that. I am glad to hear of this. As far as your comments on your site go, they are always an informational continuation of the material in your articles. It is a good thing that your current theme is more than fine being left unchanged. I will talk to you again soon enough.

Squeaky: I agree there, as comments serve to keep the story continuing along. As far as the sites mentioned here, it would have been tough to stop myself from pointing out their details and recommending a glance at them.

Corey: Sure thing about that. It is working so well that I noticed its effects. I am glad to have your creation as part of the set.

Valeria: I am glad to have done so, and I’m sure the readers are enjoying it as well. I must add that the quotes that show up during your articles are almost like a break between pieces of information, and yet they provide information as well.

Hello! Thanks for your visit! Is this blog about SEO stuff?

I don’t get you with what you wrote at my comment box “It would be interesting to slightly push the side of one of the Arowana fishes, and have it push back with a whipping motion.” =D

Eunice: Hello to you, and thanks for stopping by as well. This site is about mindset development and social interaction. Also, about the fishes, I went ahead and responded on your site.
