Some Catchy Title

by Armen · 3 comments

Hey folks.  It’s your neighborhood energizer Armen here.  I wanted to discuss the concept of working hard and why I’m doing it.  Most people don’t have big goals, or have given up on them, or something like that.  I didn’t give up on mine, and so that is why I must keep on rolling.  A lot of people don’t care to speak to a 10000-person audience or rap with Eminem or teach multitudes of students or get a local running group started, or other goals I shall leave unsaid, but since I do, I have to have a determination of steel.

Before I go any further, I want to add this paragraph in for those who are reading this and think I talk too much or specifically too much about my prospects.  There’s a door over there.

A lot of issues come up when I am writing a post.  Will this site become bigger than Problogger?  Nope.  That guy started before most folks, and so he gets to soak up most of the internet readerbase.  I use Problogger as an example of the various sites that started early on and are still the largest ones.  It is hard to beat the person who was first or started earlier.  It is almost not worth trying.  It is usually better to compete in some other category.

Another thing that comes to mind is that there is a lot of fake stuff online(and offline).  You and I have to keep an eye out for this fake material.  We all see it, and some of us let it go, but some of us stay on alert about it.

Another topic that comes to mind is that not much can be communicated through words.  I can tell you how to cook rice 50 times, but until you do it, you won’t see the 3 things that you need practice on to make that good rice or whatever.  I wrote about the weakness of words a few posts back.

Okay back to the topic of working hard.  You gotta do it and stay on track.  On a side note I once read on a site that all productivity sites boil down to the message “You should be working.”  This is true, but that doesn’t tell us much in detail.  Some people are better able to make use of detail than others.

Working hard is what sets you apart from others.  If you look at The Personal Excellence Blog by Celestine, you might not see it, but I can see that she has worked real hard on her site and layout and links.  Everything connects and flows and has brand integration and is smooth and friendly.  This takes hours upon hours of detailing work.  The same is true for Lil’ Wayne’s raps and Barack Obama’s speeches.  Crafting to a level of smoothness takes work most of us are not willing to do.  Short-term enjoyment is popular on most person’s radar, which is why only a few become prominent and many become observers.  I can’t handle being an observer, so I have no choice but to progress.

Do my words help you?  Most people just read stuff as entertainment and then forget it in 10 minutes.  I don’t want to be solely entertaining here.  I entertain everyone but look to bring substance as well.  If I make $10000000 from entertaining people and don’t provide substance, I might as well be a drug dealer because that is not much different.  Nope, I have to bring substance or I am not fulfilled.

One of my big weaknesses is that I actually want to help people.  I may have mentioned this before.  This is terrible for business because other businesspeople are fine with taking your money and providing little to nothing, making them more efficient at their writing or whatever they call it.

I don’t post on this site much, so some of this stuff doesn’t relate to me as much, but these concepts relate to material outside of sites too.  It’s not like writing to make a profit is that different from programming to make a profit or doing surgery to make a profit.  There are elements of business, understanding, and hard work throughout.

This site was one of my outlets before, and I stopped writing on it much because I wasn’t getting big or profitable through it, but I was missing the point.  Someone as smart as me will obviously do fine in terms of going big and being profitable, so I should maintain this site as my outlet.  I can’t believe I actually doubted that I’d get well-known or profitable outside of this site, but my understanding has improved anyway.  It turns out that I’m not competing with Problogger or Zen Habits on this site because I have a bigger mission than both of them.  I didn’t realize this before.  It just happens to be that mission is to be mostly run offline, with a bit of outlet being provided online.

Let me know your thoughts if you have any folks.  I take each comment as representing 50 people’s thoughts.

Hi neighborhood energizer Armen,

Working hard and working with passion goes hand in hand. Sometimes it is luck, sometime it is hard work, but combining both will surely bring success.

Write here because you want to and share what you know always works. I have seen many wonderful blogs with little traffic and crappy blogs with high traffic. With quality people will eventually come, if you write what you love, you will bound to do it longer. Just my humble friendly opinion.

I will always check up on friend’s blog like here.

A quality title can divert huge traffic. Title help to attract the people. but It doesn’t matter how good or how bad you are creating the title of your article in the end you’ll end up with something.

What you feel in your heart is good enough to be posted or you think will be of help to others, just you’ll feel good :)
